June 5, 2025
ELGIN-MIDDLESEX-LONDON — Rob Flack, MPP for Elgin-Middlesex-London, announced today on behalf of Premier Ford that the Ontario government is investing in the Port Stanley Village Association, Inc. to help make our community more inclusive and accessible for people of all ages and abilities.
“This is a smart investment that makes a real difference for people in our community,” said Rob Flack, MPP for Elgin-Middlesex-London. “Improving access to Little Beach means more seniors, families, and people with disabilities can enjoy the lake and everything Port Stanley has to offer. It’s about fairness, inclusion, and making sure everyone has the chance to enjoy our public spaces. I’m proud to see our government supporting a project that reflects the values and needs of our local community.”
Through the Inclusive Community Grants Program, Port Stanley Village Association, Inc. will receive up to $49,255 in funding to install, and maintain beach mats and a storage shed for a water wheelchair that will allow access for residents and visitors to Little Beach on the north shore of Lake Erie in the town of Port Stanley.
“Inclusive communities create more accessible environments for older adults and people with disabilities to participate in all aspects of community life,” said Raymond Cho, Minister for Seniors and Accessibility. “Through the Inclusive Community Grants Program, we are fostering community involvement and fighting social isolation by removing barriers to help Ontarians stay active, healthy and independent.”
The investment in the Inclusive Community Grants Program has increased to up to $1.55 million for this years 18 projects. Since this initiative was created in 2020, it has provided over $5 million to support 125 projects promoting inclusivity and accessibility in Ontario.
“This project is a great example of what can be achieved when community groups and government work together,” said Central Elgin Mayor Andrew Sloan. “Thanks to the support from the Province of Ontario and the dedication of the Port Stanley Village Association, we’re making Little Beach more accessible and welcoming for everyone.”
